How to make change happen, by reinventing like a PRO!

Do you have a niggling feeling that something isn't working for you anymore? Or maybe you want 2025 to be the year you make a change in your life – perhaps related to your career, relationship, financial position, health or wellbeing? It's time to stop ignoring that little internal voice. I've got you covered...

Knowing when to turn the page and start a new life chapter can be a daunting prospect. In fact it can often be much harder than keeping the status quo and doing nothing at all. But if something is not bringing you joy, or helping you to grow in some way, or negatively impacting your health, it is time for a change. And it’s never too late to make that change, I promise you!

To get there takes self-awareness and a positive mindset, and it is so much easier when you break it down. I regularly use my three-step ‘Reinvent like a PRO’ formula to help clients - and myself - through transformative times:

1. PAUSE:

Any transformation begins with a niggling feeling that won’t go away. You know when that little internal voice keeps piping up telling you this isn't working for you as well as it once did? Don't ignore it! That's your mind telling you to sit up and pay attention. Perhaps the energy doesn’t feel right at work anymore or a relationship is zapping your happiness; Perhaps it's getting so bad that your sleep or health is being affected. The first step is to give yourself a chance to pause, to take notice of this. Welcome the feelings in, acknowledge how you're feeling, and show yourself some compassion for this.

2. REFLECT:

Next, spend some time considering what has led you here – journaling is a great way to do this. Drawing two columns on a page, write down what is working for you right now, and what isn’t. Put down the things that are really important to you in life - these are your values or motivators. Then begin to visualise where you might like to be. To do this, try imagining yourself in a year’s time, feeling happy and content – what does that look like for you? Hold this image in your mind and make it your goal. You can then begin to reflect on the options available to you to get there.

3. ORGANISE:

Change happens through action. Now it's time to put some steps in place to help realise your goal. Don’t think too big – think small steps – no one climbs a staircase in one leap (unless you’re an Olympian). A first step might involve reaching out to someone in your network, sending an email you’ve been putting off, or having an open and honest conversation with someone close to you. Consider how you will hold yourself accountable to reach your first small milestone, perhaps this involves putting the time you will do it in your diary, so you treat it like an important work meeting; or maybe it involves telling someone you're close to as asking them to check you've done it. Start today!

There is no time limit to work through the three points in this formula. Sometimes we need to be in Pause for a while to collect our thoughts, sometimes Reflect takes longer before you’re ready for the action phase in Organise. When you are considering making a life change, you will want to be sure you have worked through all possible options open to you, before you make it happen. This is when it can be helpful to work with a coach – or come on one of my retreats!

The key thing, though, is that you keep moving forwards, even if those steps feel like baby steps at times. 👣

All smiles on my very first Rosie's Reinvention Retreat at Corinthia London in September 2024

I regularly refer to my Reinvent like a PRO - Pause, Reflect, Organise - formula to help me make changes, big or small, to my life. It’s how I coached myself out of one career and into another. Having worked through many reinvention moments in the last two years, I understand how you are feeling, and I can tell you that there is no better feeling than knowing your values are being met everyday. You deserve a happy and fulfilled life.

If you are interested in levelling-up your life and working towards a reinvention of some kind, you might find our next Rosie's Reinvention Retreat helpful. It is taking place at Corinthia London on 27th January 2024 and we will be 'Reinventing Success: How to optimise your work/life flow for the year ahead'. There are still some places left, at the special early-bird price. You can discover more details here.
